The Carousel Works Inc. was founded in 1986 by Art Richie and Dan Jones. In 1991, the company created the first hand-carved wooden carousel build since the 1930s, the Richland Carrousel. In addition to producing many modern carousels, Carousel Works also offered complete restoration services.

Carousel Works filed for bankruptcy in January of 2021. Former employee Eric Tomlinson purchased many of the Carousel Works' assets following its closure and founded All Around Carousels, which offers new carousels, restoration services, and more.
